Serum
A combination of hard graft and over 10 years of experience in music production has seen Serum rise from relative obscurity into being one of the most prolific of the new breed of dnb producers. His mix of vintage jungle and futuristic modern jumpup has shown widespread appeal, with tracks being picked up by many of the scene's longest standing brands, such as Dread, Creative Source, Grid and Timeless, as well as many of the scene's freshest up and coming labels.Serum's career in dnb began after being spotted in 2004 by veteran producer Ray Keith, and signed exclusively to the legendary Dread imprint. The 4 years that followed saw him releasing a string of singles and EPs, and remixing classic tracks like "Sing Time" and "Girls Dem Want it". Working with Ray Keith allowed Serum to learn what what the crowd wanted, giving him the knowledge and skills to create tracks that smash the dancefloor. His biggest release on the label, "Dub Dread" came in 2005, which was played by Andy C, and became the title track for a series of mix albums on Dread.
In early 2008, Serum made the decision to branch out into working with other labels. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, with a string of releases and remixes that have been championed by Fabio, Randall, Andy C, Friction, Dillinja, Marky, Bryan G, Ray Keith, Twisted Individual and many more. Early 2009 saw the release of "Snake Fist" co produced with Bladerunner, and his remix of DJ Stretch's "Papa Lover" both of which broke into the Radio 1 dnb charts. It also saw Serum being chosen as 1xtra DJ Bailey's hot pick for 2009. Serum shows no sign of slowing down, and continues to build up his success with projects in the pipeline coming out on Grid, Zombie, Liquid V, Dread, Critical, Nam and Muzik Hertz, plus remixes in the pipeline for Twisted Individual, Total Science, Liondub, Topcat, DJ Stretch and many more.
